New job and sad news :(

Hi everyone,

it’s that time of the year again and those of you that have been following us during the last year already know that I usually make some kind of announcement at this time.

Well, this year it’s kind of a happy and sad announcement as I got a new job as Chief Editor in an organization which aims at officially representing eSports in Italy, which means that my scarce free time is gonna get even more scarce as I’ll have to split my time between concluding my studies at university and bearing the huge responsibility of managing a crucial aspect of our organization.

I know lot of you guys have been waiting hoping to see a new release this week but I’ve been studying and working all the damn day, from 8 a.m. straight to 3 a.m. in the night and I’m incredibly tired.
Making a release takes a lot of time (recording and QC take up to 8 hours depending on the soundtrack’s length, sometimes even more!) and I’m not sure how I’m gonna do this.

I’ll try taking advantage of the festivities to get some new release out because I know that when holidays end I won’t have any time left. I hope to record a new one on the 26 or 27th of December and hopefully they’ll be out a couple of days after.

That’s pretty much it for now.
I just want to say that it’s been a great year as we’ve reached what I think is the pinnacle of recording quality thanks to a new source and improved recording tools and software and nothing on the internet comes even close to both the accuracy and quality of our releases and that’s incredible, to say the least.

I really hope I’ll figure how to find time to record (and remaster!) other soundtracks so you guys can keep enjoying your favorite music.

This said, I want to wish all of you a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year full of joy and happiness.

Updating torrents

I’m in the process of updating the torrent’s file structure and the torrents themselves, as we changed tracker one year ago but I never actually updated the old torrents files.

Please refrain from downloading these files until further notice.

Thanks for your collaboration and understanding.

UPDATE: I’ve updated ALL the torrent files. You can find them in the MASTER LIST thread.
Also, please notice that ALL torrent files in the single threads are outdated and I’m not updating them since that would be a huge waste of time.
From now on, you can download the torrents directly from the MASTER LIST and each Release thread will have a link to it to help you navigating the forum quickly.
You can read the announcement in the forum in this thread.
If you find any non-working link, please report them either in the Forum or via mail at [email protected]

Please remember, to access the Release subforum and get the torrent files you’ll have to register.
Registering is absolutely free and will take you half a minute and it’s a nice way to say “thank you” to us for our work. Leaving a small message to let us know you appreciate our doing is also largely appreciated. :-]

Also, the registration process is still bugged and I can’t do anything about it.
When you register it will ask you to activate your account and doing so will always result in failure but don’t worry: there’s no activation process. Once you’ve registered you’re good to go!

Thanks again for sticking with us; I’ll try to record a new release next week!

Higher quality for FLAC and MP3 releases

Hi everyone,

after all the upgrades the recording chain had the last months, I figured out it was time to sit down and spend some time on the Megascript, which is an automated software that produces the downsampled versions of our releases, FLAC and MP3.

So I started listening to some FLACs and decided that the quality wasn’t up to our standards and something had to be done about it. Yesterday I took the Megascript and made some substantial mods along with updated tools (SoX and ffmpeg) and the results were really encouraging.
To an untrained ear, now the differences between the 96/24 FLACs and standard resolution FLACs are really hard to catch, meanwhile those with higher end setups and good ears will still manage to pick some small differences here and there.
All in all it’s been a nice improvement in quality and I’m really happy about it.
Some of you may think that I only care for the higher resolution material and don’t give a damn about everything else but that’s not really the case.
Our goal is to set new, higher standards to videogame rips quality as we DO want to keep this high standard among all our formats.
So, yeah, we do care about you guys downloading the FLACs and MP3s, you’re not B Tier. ;-]

On a personal note, MP3s still sound bad to my ears, but that might be just me: I hate the MP3 format with a passion as it uses a very destructive algorithm.
I’d love to ditch the MP3 format and switch to AAC which, on the other end, is pretty legit but most of you have softwares and portable players that doesn’t support AAC, so I guess we’ll be stuck with MP3.

That’s pretty much it.
Expect to hear better quality FLACs and MP3s from the next release on (that include Remasters!).

On a side note on Remasters: I decided to put the Sonic games as maximum priority. Those were ripped from the games’ sound test mode and the Mega Drive’s VDP injected a lot of white noise in them and quality has suffered greatly from this.
I’m sorry for those who already requested some Remasters but this time I decided to make an exception and push other releases first.
The affected games are:

Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Sonic & Knuckles
Sonic 3D (this one in particular is terrible)

Sonic Spinball was among the first ones to be ripped with the new method thanks to DeadFish Shitware’s native VGM Player. As such, it will be queued after all the requests.

Thanks for sticking with us and stay tuned for a new release (hopefully) next week!

[RELEASE] Ecco – The Tides of Time

Here we go with another release!

Please be patient as high-res version and torrent download are not coming this week as Haggar is away and will be back next week.

Videos on Youtube will be up soon-ish.

Also, is it me or the Title Theme sounds a lot like the overused “Requiem for a Dream” tune? Go figure.

As always, clicking on the cover will bring you to the download page!

Good listening!

Everything’s ready to record a new release!

UPDATE: in an effort to make the website look as clean and simple as possible, now there are only the Facebook and Twitter icon links on the top right of the site.
The Youtube and the new Twitch icon and links are available (along with the FB and Twitter ones) in the menu on the left, just below our logo.
As always, a little feedback is greatly appreciated!

Finally I got hold of the last components I needed and we’re ready to record a new release.

That’s been a lot of work!

Meanwhile, I’ve finally set up my Twitch channel and I hope I’ll be starting streaming more or less regularly soon. I want to focus on the Mega CD/Sega CD as I feel that a lot of people didn’t have the chance to get their hands on this awesome add on and missed on a lot of good games.

About the new release, now it’s just a matter of finding a day free to record it, cut it and start sending it to Haggar. Hopefully I’ll manage to do this this weekend – no promises though.

Stay tuned for news and follow us on Facebook to keep updated on what we’re doing!

Getting there…

(sorry about the photo quality, I did this with my mobile phone)

I can’t help it, whenever I have some audio mods to do, I always aim for the best parts.

Wima polypropylene caps are the Gucci of audio components, you really can’t beat them.

How does everything sound? Superb.

Wait and hear…
