Changes!

Hi all,

the new release is almost ready, we’re uploading it to the file sharing service and the torrent should be ready soon as well.

I want to talk a bit about some changes I’ve made so far for efficiency sake since we’re going hard on hitting 3 releases per month.

From now on the releases will be available for download as “file chunks”.
The size of each file chunk will be 200MB as this is the file size limit Mediafire gives me.

This means that from now on instead of downloading a billion files you’ll be downloading definitely less files to get the entire release.

Actually, the MP3 version is quite small as it tops at ~150MB max so you’ll be able to download the entire release in MP3 format in one file.

The standard FLAC version sometime will fit into one chunk depending on the length and number of the tracks. The one about to be released unfortunately is 250MB so you’ll have to download two files to get it.

The Hi-Res FLAC will be variable between 3 and 7 chunks.

The files you’re going to download can be opened with 7z since they are 7zips.
You can get 7z here:
https://www.7-zip.org/download.html

There are versions for Linux and Macs as well.

“But don… what if I want to listen to only one track?”

You can go to our Youtube channel and listen to it there. Or you can download only selected tracks from the torrent since the torrent’s structure will remain unchanged.

I feel like this is the best solution for now, it may not be convenient but it is definitely more efficient.

Please feel free to comment on this change and give suggestions.

Setting our goals

Here comes November and this year we’ll be trying to be more strict about release dates and, in general, the number of releases per month.

Ideally we’d like to make one release every ten days so that we can have 3 releases per month.

The flow should be as follows:

1 week: recording, quality check, album/youtube cover images, creation of the youtube videos and CD and MP3 quality versions.

3 days: upload the release, upload the youtube videos, make announcement.

I must admit that there’s not much time as, theoretically, after finishing the upload I should already be working on the next release without resting.
Maybe we should just set a goal of 2 releases per month which I find more realistic but then it would take forever to fulfill not only all the requests made but most of the Mega Drive/Genesis’ library.

Not to mention that then we have to switch over to the SNES and then maybe some other platform in the future.

This year we managed to make 20 releases which is no slouch but then it’s far from what we’d like to achieve.
With a quick calculation, if we manage to make 3 releases per month we’ll have a whooping 36 releases this year.
Instead if we settle for 2 releases per month we’ll have 24 releases which is close to what we actually achieved.

I think that our goal for this year is to go for a total of 30 releases which would be absolutely fine IMHO.

The only thing is that I’ll probably not be able to make a soundtrack by soundtrack analysis like I’ve done so far so the announcement will just be something like “Hey, we’ve released X game today! Go get it while it’s hot!” to save time and that would be it.

If someone will ever want to chime in and make a short review of the soundtrack release he’ll be more than welcome of course!

That’s it for now, tomorrow I’ll start working on a new release so don’t go anywhere! :]

Congratulations to Valet2 for winning our copy of Street Fighter II’ Turbo Soundtrack!!

And the winner is…

Valet2!!

You might remember him for his awesome contribution to our project by giving us an exclusive review with Jon Holland, composer of Vectorman’s soundtrack and now he does it again donating 20 euros towards our cause!

Thank you so much, I’m really happy and I’d like to spend a moment to thank also all the other bidders that didn’t make it for joining us in this event: you guys are awesome!

Stay tuned for the next days as I’ll make a post about our goals for this year.

Double release!!!

Toejam2 Ragnacenty

Hello everyone!
We’ve got not one, but TWO new releases for you guys, both immediately available for you to download!

Let’s start talking a bit with Toejam & Earl: this soundtrack is really, really funky with awesome choices of instruments and a cool beat. The bass goes down well deep and it will surely make you tap your feet to it.
Too bad that there aren’t many tracks but those in it are A rank.

The other game has 3 different names for it, is it known in Europe as Soleil, in the US as Crusader of Centy and in Jap as Shin Soseiki Ragnacenty.
Why, why is it that! I guess we’ll never know.
This is a MASSIVE release counting 24 tracks which are absolutely fantastic, very dreamy and some of them with quite a steady beat.
Again we have a nice selection of instruments and memorable melodies, very Final Fantasy-like.

The torrents are not available yet, Mayor Haggar is working on them, so make sure to check the release threads out from time to time to know when they’ll became available!

So… what’s next now?

I think I’ll have a break and go on holiday somewhere, in September I’ll have many exams to do at university so there won’t be any new releases coming out soon.

I’ll just give you a hint of what’s coming out next… it is something very, very special. It may come handy to know that the project has officially started on the 19th of October, so you may want to remember that date and get ready: I promise it will be something big. :]

Enough with the talks!
Head over to our Media page and get this two gems while they’re hot!

I wish you guys happy holidays and hope to see you soon!
