“Where the hell have you been?!!??”

Alright, time to make it up for my long absence here.

I’ve had a very intense exam session that kept me away from all you guys till half of July, then I thought I was finally free and was about to start recording a new release when suddenly work came out of nowhere and it kept me busy untl 5 days ago. Finally, I had to get a complete reset and put my mind at rest for at least 3 days so I went away on a little vacation and came back yesterday.

So, what about now?
Just know that not one, but TWO releases are getting worked on and they will be out simultaneously soon.

Make sure to check back whenever you can so you don miss the new releases!

Join us in our AMA! (Ask Me Anything)

Hello community,

I wanted you to know that I’ve opened an AMA (Ask Me Anything) where you can ask me whatever you want about the project and I’ll try to reply whenever I have time to all of your questions.

Asking a question is a matter of seconds since you don’t have to register and you can make the question in absolute anonymity, so even those that are shy and don’t want for some reason to “expose” themselves, you can safely take part in our AMA without worrying about your privacy. :]

To take part, just click this link https://ask.fm/LucaRomeoCeleste and ask!

Bear in mind that I won’t always be online and checking the page, so if I haven’t replied to you yet, be sure to check back in 1-2 days!

Also, before asking a question, read our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) to make sure that your question hasn’t already been answered, otherwise the response will just be a link to that page.

See you there!

Rocket Knight Adventures is here!

RocketKnightA
After endless delays we finally made it!

I want to spend few words on this release as it has a different approach from all the others we’ve done so far.
There’s been several people disappointed with the lack of what we called “jingles”. What are those anyway? These are small pieces of music such as an end stage music and, in general, things that last or loop for few than 20 seconds.
Since there are games that have billions of these jingles I decided that our releases would focus on making the “themes” and music perfect rather than taking more time and make lots of small files for each jingle.

What happened in Rocket Knight Adventures is that I decided to blend some of the jingles with the actual music of stages and so on.
Maybe the best example is the last track, “Continue?, Game Over” where they perfectly blend one into each other, seamlessly, and they make one continuous track.
I’ve mixed jingles and tracks in a way that it makes some kind of sense: for example the first stage has the Stage Intro and Outro in it because it is what you would hear in the game if you would start a game and then clear the stage. Same applies for the rest.

I recognize, though, that it could be annoying to someone who wants to hear only that particular tracks and, instead, he has to hear, taking the above example, the Stage Intro jingle every time.

I have to say, though, that I made a very good work at blending these tracks (were possible) but I strongly need your feedback on this because if you find this approach annoying I would not make it anymore (and it will save a lot of time too).
So please be sure to report to our and tell us what you think!

Enough with the talks, head over to our media section or the release thread for the torrent file (yeah, it is already up!) and get it while it’s hot!

Dune II: The Battle for Arrakis has been released!

Dune_II

UPDATE: The torrent download is up in the release thread!

Thanks to the super fast connection I have at university, I was able to upload the entire release to Mediafire in one day!

This release has been a real pain to record: for some obscure reason the tracks were very quiet and I had to amplify quite a bit to make them sound at a comfortable level and, on the other hand, the PCM samples were super loud!
Finding the right level has been painful because I didn’t want absolutely the samples to clip but neither I wanted to have the tracks too quiet.

In the end, after endless recordings and tests, I decided to set a level high enough and de-emphasize the PCM samples: those would be ok if played during gameplay where you keep the sound to certain levels, but in a soundtrack they would make your ears bleed since you’d be listening to them at a much higher volume.

Finding the “sweet spot” for the PCM samples has been hard too because I didn’t want them to overshadow the music but neither I wanted them to sound too quiet/artificial, so I had to fiddle quite a bit to find the right volume for them so that they would blend flawlessly with the rest of the track.

It has been a hard but I managed to make very good work imho, I’m looking forward to hear from you guys what you think of this release!

Also, there are two bonus track for you: the opening and credits in German!
That’s right, the German version of this game had the voices in German and the Opening has the first loop a bit longer than the English one. Hope you’ll enjoy this little extra we’ve dig for you. :]

What else… you’ll probably notice that Youtube has a new (crappy imho) interface now: hopefully you’ll manage to get your way through it.
You’ll probably notice that the Featured Video (or front page video, whatever) has gone and has been replaced by a “Trailer Video” to introduce those that haven’t subscribed yet to the channel. Those who already subscribed won’t see it anymore.

So I’m currently looking for someone to make this “Trailer Video” to introduce the people to our project. I have a few ideas in mind but I need someone good at making videos, in particular someone who’s good at fiddling with special effects.
If you think you’re good enough, please contact me at [email protected] or through our Forum.

And that’s all for now, stay tuned for other news and future releases!
